EPRD - DAS ENDOPROTHESENREGISTER DEUTSCHLAND (German Arthroplasty Registry)
Artificial joint replacement has been a great success story of modern medicine, especially in orthopaedics. The insertion of more than 400,000 hip and knee implants every year is one of the most common surgical procedures performed in Germany. At the same time, however, more than 30,000 revisions are required each year. At the time being, little has been known about the reasons. The German Arthroplasty Registry (EPRD), an initiative of the German Society for Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery (DGOOC), wants to change this.
